Kits with a Story

My work is inspired by the obsolescent community of ageing self-settlers who returned to live in isolated villages within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. It is now more than 30 years since the world's worst nuclear accident that caused the evacuation of the whole population.

I have been working with some of these special, strong, gritty, courageous and completely independent people to revive their traditional embroidery practices and have a passionate interest in them, together with their dying textile heritage.

I have designed each kit based on research I have done during many visits to Chernobyl and aim to share the narratives, everyday and heritage of these extraordinary people.

​

These LIMITED EDITION, fresh, innovative and exciting stitch kits are continuously being developed and new designs will be introduced at regular intervals.
